Department of Food health and Nutrition

The Department of Food Health and Nutrition was established in the academic year 2017-2018, and it is thus a new department at the university. It is one of the scientific departments that receives great attention in the world, especially since unhealthy foods have severe harm to the human body and its healthy future. Preparing specialized cadres in this field is one of the necessities of a healthy society.
The mission of the Department of Food Hygiene and Nutrition at Al Qasim Green University is to integrate theory, research and practice to provide graduates with a strong academic foundation grounded in the science and research principles of nutrition, food and food service management to ensure a safe and healthy food supply that supports community well-being and prosperity.
Food health includes many specializations, including microorganisms contaminating food, toxins, chemical and physical contamination, epidemic diseases transmitted through food, and the chemical composition of food, in addition to various health problems resulting from foods, such as allergies and food intolerances. In the field of nutrition, the department studies the nutritional needs of infants, pregnant women, other sensitive groups, athletes, and patients. The department's role is to provide the graduating student with the following skills:

  • Monitoring and controlling chemical and physical food contaminants and methods for their estimation, detection and treatment
  • Studying microorganisms contaminating food and methods of eliminating them.
  • Promoting good nutrition methods and health concepts among community members.
  • Understanding the relationship between food and public health and the factors that support the health, safety and quality of food.
  • Training on health requirements for food establishments and training on how to serve and prepare food in a safe and healthy manner
